Pointers

  • Awareness itself does all the work. Repeatedly returning to awareness requires effort.
  • Life’s too short to worry about survival. Notice when unneeded fear contracts your reality.
  • Paradox is Parallax. Cognitive dissonance is just an opportunity to try out a new perspective.
  • Perfection is Lightspeed. The closer you try to get, the more energy it takes and the slower things happen.
  • Start anywhere. If you aren’t yet sure, get your ass moving. The next steps will become clear.
  • Bring the mind along for the ride. While   not a good driver, once it's on board, it can be a great navigator.
  • Just do the next obvious thing. Sometimes that turns out to be planning - an ideal task for the mind.
  • Resistance is futile. Try doing the exact opposite of anything that pissy little voice says.
  • Never put off ‘til tomorrow what you can postpone indefinitely. If it’s not important, let it ride.
  • Boredom is a luxury. Unstructured time is precious, don’t waste it thinking of things to do.

Principles

  • Pure awareness is the root of all experience. Consciously cultivating it is a core practice.
  • The content of awareness changes constantly. Radical acceptance of this is a key to peace.
  • The mind loves to solve problems, and will thus search for - or create - problems to solve.
  • The perception of a problem always lacks a complete picture of the underlying context.
  • By pausing, not rushing to solutions, deeper truths can surface to illuminate potential choices.
  • A solution imposed from outside is often resisted or won’t stick in a problem-oriented mind.
  • To invite receptivity, new information is best laid gently on the table, not dropped in the lap.
  • To help evoke deeper layers of being, practice open acceptance, empathetic inner listening.
  • This requires becoming willing and able to face ambiguity, the discomfort of not knowing.
  • Active structured inquiry is sometimes useful, especially when polarities or judgments arise.
  • This is a lifelong journey of deepening embodiment, gradually increasing sensitivity to emotions as they arise, so they can start to be metabolized before bubbling to the surface.
  • Every individual has a unique background, neurological makeup, and perceptual attunement, thus no single practice will work for everybody.
  • The art then is to practice discernment while exploring new paths.
